In restrooms where space is at a minimum, finding a way to safely install grab bars to comply with ADA and other barrier-free accessibility guidelines can be difficult. The Bobrick B-4998 Swing Up Wall-Mounted Grab Bar was designed as a solution to this problem, as the bar can be swung open for use and then kept out of the way against the wall at all other times. Crafted from 18-gauge, type-304 stainless steel, the grab bar measures 1-1/4 inches in diameter. To increase the strength of the unit, the bar is heliarc welded to the flanges. The back plate of the grab bar is made of type-304 stainless steel that is 3/16 of an inch thick. The entire unit has a satin finish that cuts down on smudging and fingerprinting. When properly installed, the grab bar can support up to 250 pounds of weight in compliance with ADA and other barrier-free accessibility guidelines.
