It is designed for air moving and other light- to medium-duty applications, such as fans and centrifugal pumps, small tools, and office equipment. It features a 3-phase motor design, which offers high starting torque, and is suitable for use in industrial environments where 3-phase power is available. The open dripproof enclosure is engineered to permit good airflow while resisting the ingress of dripping water. The vents are angled to prevent water from entering the enclosure from above. The motor's shaft also turns a cooling fan to help pull air through the motor.
