The design of the Bobrick B-4998.99 Swing Up Wall-Mounted Grab Bar allows you to add a grab bar to a commercial or institutional restroom where the layout would otherwise make it difficult or impossible. The bar swings open and closed, so that it can rest flat against the wall when not in use, keeping space in the restroom open. Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter, the grab bar is made of 18-gauge, type-304 stainless steel and has a peened gripping surface to make it easier to hang onto. Heliarc welding is used to join the bar to the flanges for added strength, and the entire grab bar and its adjoining back plate have a satin finish. Made of type-304 stainless steel that is 3/16 of an inch thick, the back plate attaches to the wall with four screws. The weight capacity for the bar is 250 pounds, which is in line with the requirements established by ADA and other barrier-free accessibility guidelines.
